24th Annual Unity Heritage Festival

Sunday & Monday, January 18 & 19, 2026

Join us for the annual Unity Heritage Festival, promoting family heritage and raising funds for the Educational Fulfillment Fund to benefit local economically disadvantaged youth!

The festival begins on Sunday, January 18, from 1 to 5 p.m., in Shady Park at Hannibal Square, located at the intersection of Pennsylvania and New England avenues. Special activities will include children’s games, career booths, food and retail vendors, as well as job training/readiness and financial literacy. 

On Monday, January 19, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., enjoy programs, blues and Jazz music, kids' activities, food, and retail vendors.

The Hannibal Square Heritage Center will be open during the festival at the following times:

• 1-5 PM on Sunday, January 18, 2026
• 11 AM - 4 PM on Monday, January 19, 2026

Join us for a walking tour, provided every 3rd Saturday of the month from 10 am to 11:30 am, call the Heritage Center to reserve your spot!
​$10 per person, $5 with student ID.

​Explore Hannibal Square, Winter Park on a guided walking tour with Chief Historian Fairolyn Livingston. Hannibal Square was a segregated self-sustaining community; segregation created the necessity and opportunity for entrepreneurship and it became a successful vibrant thriving community. Along the walking tour you will see historic sites such as Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, Welbourne Day Care and Nursery founded in 1927 and the Masonic Lodge constructed in 1927.

Since 2002, Peter Schreyer and Chief Historian Fairolyn Livingston along with members of the Heritage Team have been collecting and researching the history of Hannibal Square, the African-American neighborhood in West Winter Park. Last summer, a dream came true, when the Florida Historical Society published a book that chronicles the community project that resulted in the founding of the Hannibal Square Heritage Center and the permanent collections that are always on display. ​
