LOCATED IN THE HEART OF WINTER PARK
“The City of Culture and Heritage”Winter Park is home to many cultural attractions, including Crealdé School of Art and Sculpture Garden, Winter Park Public Golf Course, Casa Feliz Historic Home and Museum, Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art, Cornell Fine Arts Museum and the Bach Festival Society at Rollins College, Albin Polasek Museum and Sculpture Gardens, Winter Park Historical Museum and Farmer’s Market, The Winter Park Scenic Boat Tour, and more.
Winter Park is a town of 21,000, with a railway that divides the “east side” and the “west side” and until the 1970s, was the dividing line between “black” and “white.” Gentrification and new development has redefined Hannibal Square, where the Heritage Center now stands like a guardian to celebrate the past and preserve what is left of the west side community. In 2009, Winter Park was ranked 38 out of 100 best places to visit by National Geographic Traveler magazine. It is the strength and presence of Winter Park’s cultural organizations and sites—including the Heritage Center—that caused the city to name itself “The City of Culture and Heritage” in 2007. Everything a visitor could want, except a theme park, is close by—within walking or a short driving distance. The Heritage Center is located in the heart of Winter Park’s historic African-American west-side neighborhood, across the street from the children’s splash park and the Community Pride Mosaic Mural great restaurants, and boutique shopping on Hannibal Square, and is five blocks from nearby Park Avenue and the SunRail and Amtrak stations.
